Mimmo Scognamiglio è lieto di annunciare la prima mostra personale a napoli dell’artista inglese Jason Martin noto per la singolare tecnica pittorica capace di ricreare sulla superficie monocroma riflessi e onde di luce naturali attraverso movimenti rotatori, slittamenti materici, che condensandosi in linee e cerchi raggiungono l’effetto di translucenza e dinamismo che caratterizzano il suo lavoro sin dagli esordi. Ed è proprio l’uso di una materia “nuova” a caratterizzare la serie di opere che danno il titolo alla mostra “atlas”: una materia densa, tellurica, come un magma che si imprime sulla superficie e diffonde energia e bagliori luminosi. si avverte in quest’ultima serie di lavori tutta la fisicità dell’autore, il suo gesto, il segno, le tracce del dipingere come estensione del corpo dell’artista sulla superficie, il risultato di una lotta pura e perfetta con la materia nella superficie.

BIOGRAFIA
Jason Martin è nato a Jersey, nelle Channel Island, nel 1970 e vive e lavora tra Londra e il Portogallo. Ha conseguito una laurea presso Goldsmiths, Londra (1993). Tra le mostre personali si ricordano Schauwerk Sindelfingen, Germania (2017); Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst, Otterndorf, Germania (2016); Collezione Peggy Guggenheim, Venezia, Italia (2009); Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporary de Palma, Maiorca, Spagna (2008); Kunstverein Kreis Gŭtersloh, Gutersloh, Germania (2007); Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga, Spagna (2005).

Mimmo Scognamiglio is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition in Naples of the British artist Jason Martin known for his unique painting technique capable of recreating on the monochrome surface natural reflections and waves of light through rotating movements, material slippages, which condensing into lines and circles achieve the effect of translucence and dynamism that characterize his work since the beginning. And it is precisely the use of a "new" matter that characterizes the series of works that give the exhibition its title "atlas": a dense, telluric matter, like a magma that imprints itself on the surface and spreads energy and luminous glows. one can sense in this latest series of works all the author's physicality, his gesture, sign, the traces of painting as an extension of the artist's body on the surface, the result of a pure and perfect struggle with matter in the surface. ".... far from any possible association with the serial neutrality of minimalist research, jason martin proceeds by constructing a space where the restlessness of painting and the gaze of those who, by observing it, inhabit and traverse it always live. each painting contains a vitality and tension that never fails. simultaneously, a place of perception has been created in them that generates in the viewer the involvement that fully and sensorially transports him within a suspended stillness.
