Giuseppe Mulas

Giuseppe Mulas' painting searches for the boundary between light and darkness: he investigates and reflects on the concept of infinity, understood as limitless space, an imaginary and sometimes frightening unknown. The Sardinian artist works on his canvases repeatedly using a yellow base that he covers, soils, scratches and etches. Sometimes he mixes the colour with beeswax, which he scratches with the points, creating a mark that reveals the figure. The recurring use of the sign as a scratch becomes an expressive medium for the investigation at the heart of his research: trauma, self-discovery and the difficulty that arises from the obligation to fit in, to identify oneself in a shared space, in a social perimeter.
